Dartmouth Atlas Of Vascular Health Care

The Dartmouth Atlas of Cardiovascular Health Care is the first specialty-specific volume in the Dartmouth Atlas series. This edition of the Atlas breaks new ground because of its co-sponsors, the American College of Cardiology and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.

The Dartmouth Atlas series has continually reported that the quality of care patients receive varies, and that these variations reflect fundamental differences in how patients are treated. Most of the investigations concerning variations in utilization and quality of care are conducted by physicians and researchers from outside organized medicine.
The ACC and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, as members of the specialty societies most closely involved with the care of patients with cardiovascular disease, feel that it is imperative that the specialty societies enter into the debate. By working with The Dartmouth Atlas investigators on this book, the societies hope to promote the understanding of variations in treatment patterns, and that this understanding may lead to improvement in the treatment of cardiovascular disease.

The Atlas of Cardiovascular Health Care deals with the most common chronic disease in the U.S. - ischemic heart disease- as well as cardiac conduction disease and valvular heart disease among the Medicare population. The book provides an in-depth clinical focus by centering its investigation to where most medical care begins: diagnostic testing in the outpatient setting.
